Overview of 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher
Training in Rishikesh India

Yoga is the science of union of Body, Mind and Spirit

The Science of Hatha Yoga

Yoga is a systematic science of inner journey and to know our true Self. It shows us the road map how to be more conscious of our body, mind and soul to experience the union with the universal consciousness. Yoga lays down systematic step by step methodology to understand deeply our body, mind and heart and to harmonize them to feel the Oneness. In this context Rishi Patanjali says, “Yoga Chitta Vriti Nirodhah” which means Yoga is the cessation of mind by establishing oneself in transcendental state of consciousness. Though the main practice of yoga revolves around the mind but the first step towards yoga begin with the body. Hence, it is necessary to start yoga practice from the body by bringing more attention and awareness to it. If the body is not in a right state or condition it is very difficult to proceed further on the path of yoga or inner journey.

Now, the question comes, How to prepare the right condition of the body so that it would be easier to go deeper inside and experience higher possibilities? Here, Hatha Yoga is the most appropriate answer to it. The classical Hatha Yoga is a great science of energy to prepare the body fit for the inner journey and is a great preparatory process to process of Yoga to balance the energy for the inner journey. The word “Ha” means the Sun and “tha” means the Moon. Hence, Hatha Yoga means the yoga that brings the balance between Sun and Moon energy or to bring balance between Pingla and Ida or to harmonize Yin and Yang energy within us. Fundamentally, it is a physical preparation to take us beyond certain limitations of our life force. It allows us for a higher possibility of energy to move into deeper dimensions of meditation.

Hatha Yoga – Its Importance in Inner Journey

Hatha Yoga is not an exercise to keep ourselves physically fit only. It does not mean twisting our body or standing on the head or holding the breath for a long time. It is a practice to understand the mechanics of the body-mind, to create a certain atmosphere of energy in the body and driving that energy in a specific direction to experience the Oneness with whole existence. It talks about very powerful techniques and tools regarding the use of our body and breath creatively to explore the energy dimensions of life. Hatha Yoga says, the purer the body, greater the energy flow and easier to go deeper inside. The purification of the body is one of the prominent features of hatha yoga to intensify the energy flow within. Now the important questions are, What does the purification of the body mean? How does our body accumulate impurities? What are the dimensions of purification of the body?
